Every October, the quiet streets of Royal Oaks undergo a spooky transformation. The Haunted Oaks is a community-driven Halloween spectacle where residents within the Royal Oaks community team up to transform their yards into elaborate, larger-than-life displays. What started as a few decorated houses has grown into an annual destination featuring dozens of decorated homes, custom props, lights, fog, sound systems, and animatronics. It is entirely funded, built, and run by passion-driven neighbors who love the holiday and the community spirit. Bring the whole family, take your time, and come back more than once. It changes all month long.

A little bit of everything that goes bump
Larger-than-life displays
Twenty-plus front yards themed top to bottom, from graveyards to full haunted scenes.
Synchronized light shows
Custom light shows set to sound, block after block, best enjoyed after dark.
Animatronics & spooky props
Aliens, skeletons, custom props, and eerie sound effects, but no live-actor jump scares or gore.
Teal Pumpkin treats
Allergy-friendly, non-food treats so every trick-or-treater can join the fun.
New surprises every year
Neighbors keep raising the bar, adding new props, scenes, and surprises every single season.

Lamplight Drive gets busy on Halloween, with more than 2,000 trick-or-treaters and their families. To keep the blocks clear and safe for all the little ones, please park at one of these nearby lots and enjoy the short walk in.

Where is it located?
The homes are located within the Royal Oaks neighborhood of Woodbury, Minnesota, centered on Lamplight Drive.
When can we see the displays?
Displays are generally starting to be put up for viewing October 1st through October 31st. Lights and animatronics typically turn on from dusk until 9:00 PM daily throughout October. The peak night is Halloween itself, October 31st, with trick-or-treating running from roughly 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM.
How much does it cost?
It is 100% free. The Haunted Oaks is entirely funded, built, and run by passion-driven neighbors who love the holiday and community spirit. Candy donations are always appreciated. You may also donate to our Venmo @TheHauntedOaks (1819 last 4 of phone).
I live in Royal Oaks, can we participate in The Haunted Oaks?
Absolutely! The Haunted Oaks is open to all residents of Royal Oaks. We are not a formal organization, just neighbors who enjoy decorating our homes and creating a fun Halloween experience for the community. If you'd like to participate, we encourage you to have your decorations up by the first weekend of October, which is typically considered the "soft opening" of The Haunted Oaks. However, many residents continue adding to and enhancing their displays throughout the month.
